so the day has come. nepal is to to be declared a republic today, officially.
it's been more than 10 years and more than 13000 lives have been used as sacrificial lambs to ensure the start of this new chapter. it better be worth it.
so gone is the king and all that comes with the monarchy. except that those in a position to enforce "the will of the people" are still dillydallying and the king's still at the palace. so if takes longer than the end of the week for them to remove him, i would suspect that there is something amiss.
but there's hope. as the country takes it first baby steps as a republic and tiny squabbles and "he said, she saids" ensue, we have to look beyond. afterall, it was gyanendra himself who said that we have to go through a dark tunnel to get to the bright light at the end of it.
let's hope we're almost there.
